Description

This is a cottage, likely dating from the late 17th century, with later additions and alterations. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill and partial cladding, and has a plain tiled roof. The original plan consisted of two rooms, with a single-storey addition built in the mid-19th century extending at a right angle from the rear. The cottage originally comprised one storey and an attic, but the eaves were raised at a later date. Only fragments of the timber frame remain, visible as rectangular panels. A roughly central doorway, with a 19th-century boarded door under a gabled hood, gives access. There is one window to the left on the ground floor, and one window to both floors on the right, all with mid-19th century casement windows. A brick ridge stack, coloured purplish-brown, is located immediately to the left of the doorway. Inside, the right-hand ground floor room features a large spine beam with stop-chamfered stops and heavy joists. The timber frame is largely intact but has been plastered over; a staircase is positioned behind the stack.
