Description

2 and 3 Bromfield are houses dating from the 17th century, with later additions. They are constructed of timber-frame and brick, topped with a plain tile roof that has a gable on the left side. The building has a T-shaped plan and is single-storey with an attic.

On the right side, there is a central 20th-century battened plank door set beneath a 4-centred arch, flanked by three-light wood mullion windows with metal lattice casements. This section is supported by a jetty on chamfered oak pillars. Above, there are two timber-framed gable dormers, each featuring two-light metal lattice casements in moulded cases, which are adorned with 19th-century ornamental barge-boards.

The left side has a projecting gable wing that includes a three-light wood mullion window with lattice casements, set in rendered brick, and a similar two-light casement window above, set in timber-framing. The right return side displays a heavy truss, 20th-century barge-boards with a spike finial, and a 20th-century casement window, along with another 20th-century battened plank door beneath a 4-centred arch.

The left return side features a large rubble stack base with a brick chimney and a bay of timber-framing. At the rear, there is a 19th-century brick extension that includes a 20th-century glazed door and a two-light metal lattice casement window, along with two gable dormers above, each with two-light metal lattice casements and a brick end stack.
