Description

Willow Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a timber-framed and brick construction, topped with a plain tile roof. The building has one storey with an attic and consists of three bays. There are two gabled wings added to the rear, likely in the early 20th century, and a further rear range added in the 1930s.

The cottage has 20th-century leaded casement windows, with those on the ground floor having chamfered brick cills. The right bay is an addition made of brick and has two-light windows. The left bays include a ground floor of brick with renewed posts of exposed timber-frame. There is a 20th-century door with side-lights on the right, a narrow window to the left, and a three-light window further left. On the first floor, the timber-frame is exposed, featuring timbers of small scantling and poor quality, including a mid rail and wall posts with tension braces to the wall plate, with panels infilled with brick. There are two 20th-century gabled dormers. The roof is half-hipped, with a stack at the left end that has a T-shaped section (with one flue added), one stack between the right-hand bays, and another at the right end.

The rear additions are not of special interest. Inside, there are ceiling joists in the central ground-floor room, and on the first floor, the tie-beams have been cut and the corner posts replaced.
