Description
Nos 68 and 70 Meadrow is a house that has been divided into two dwellings, dating from around 1800, though it may have earlier origins. The building features red brick in Flemish bond and a plain tile roof. It is two storeys high with two bays. There are paired central doors beneath a canopy; the left door is original, featuring six incised panels and a wooden architrave, while the right door is a 20th-century panelled version. The windows are sash style with glazing bars and exposed boxes, flat gauged brick arches, and wooden cills, except for the ground-floor left window, which has a chamfered brick cill. The eaves are stepped and dentilled, and there are end stacks. Inside No 70, there are old panelled doors with L-hinges, panelled cupboards flanking the fireplace in the front ground-floor room, and a straight-flight stair with square-section landing balusters and a gun-barrel-shaped newel.
