Description
The Forge is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick base, with roughcast and some brick modifications. The roof is tiled, and the building has a three-cell lobby entry design across two storeys. The main entrance is located between the left and centre bays, framed by a 20th-century gabled porch, with a second entrance in the right bay. Most windows are horizontal sliding sashes, except for a 20th-century casement window on the left side of the ground floor. The ridge stack has been rebuilt. The right gable end includes a ground floor lean-to outshut and a first-floor horizontal sliding sash window, with exposed plates and purlins and decorative bargeboards. There is also a 20th-century one-storey outshut on the left end. At the rear, the ground floor features brick casing, 20th-century casements, and two gabled dormers.
