Description
The Poplars is a house dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble with a plain tile roof and features three stone stacks with brick twin chimneys. The building has a T-shaped plan and is a single storey with a two-window range. The windows include a three-light and a two-light design, both with moulded yellow brick mullions and reveals, set beneath moulded ashlar lintels and drip courses.
At the center, there is a dressed stone gable porch with a three-centred arch and a shouldered drip course above, topped with a spike finial. The panelled plank door is located within this porch. On the left side, there is a canted bay window with glazing bars and yellow brick detailing, which is covered by a pentice roof. This side also features a two-light mullion window under a shouldered drip course and has deep eaves with a spike finial. A similar mullion window is present on the rear wing, which has a red brick gable porch with a casement window above. The Poplars is included for its group value.
