Description

The Clive Arms public house in Bromfield is an early 19th-century house, originally a farmhouse. It is constructed with a brick front, coursed rubble on the sides, and has a hipped Welsh slate roof with a brick stack to the rear. The house is symmetrical and three storeys high, with a three-window front. The ground floor has six-over-six sash windows set within gauged brick flat arches, while the first floor has three-over-three sash windows above. A central entrance has a 20th-century half-glazed door and glazed screens, beneath a wide segmental arch, flanked by eight-over-eight sash windows with gauged brick segmental arches. The left returned side has two 20th-century casements in altered openings, one with a brick segmental arch, and a three-light casement above. The right returned side features 20th-century casements to the ground and first floors, also within altered openings.
