Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of painted rubble with a hipped tile roof and has end brick stacks. The front of the house is symmetrical, featuring two storeys and three bays, with three-light casements that have horizontal glazing bars. The central door opening is topped with a triangular pediment supported by brackets, leading to a plank door and a 20th-century gabled and glazed porch.
There are single-storey outshuts on each side, both with hipped tile roofs. The right side has a two-light casement, while the left side features a pointed arch door opening with a plank door. A stairlight with an ogee head is located at the centre of the rear, along with a casement that has glazing bars, with an interlacing pattern in the head. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace in the right room on the ground floor and a late 18th-century cast-iron grate in the right room on the first floor. Some of the ground floor rooms have six-panelled doors.
