Summerhouse Approximately 9 Metres To South West Of Oakmead

The summerhouse, now used as a garden store, dates from around 1735. It is constructed of red brick, with some gauged brickwork, and features yellow and grey sandstone ashlar dressings. The building has a square plan and a hipped plain tile roof. Notable architectural details include a moulded plinth and chamfered raised quoins. The side windows are blocked and have gauged heads, while there is a 20th-century window inserted on the east side. The north side has a boarded door, and the south side features a segmental-headed boarded door. The summerhouse likely originally had an open front to the south, as indicated by straight joints and later 18th-century brickwork. It is located at the north end of the bowling green behind The Elephant and Castle Hotel, although it is currently separated from the hotel by a new road. Oakmead is not included in this listing.
