Description

Ivy House is a house dated 1800, featuring a remodelled late 17th century or 18th century wing at the rear. It is constructed of red brick with a slate roof. The rear wing has painted brick nogging and a high brick plinth, with light square panels framed by long straight tension braces. The building is L-shaped, consisting of two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with the rear wing being one storey and an attic. It has a dentil brick eaves cornice and parapeted gable ends, which are accented by moulded stone kneelers and stone coping. There are external brick end stacks. The house has three bays, featuring glazing bar sashes with painted stone cills and painted stone lintels that have raised fluted keystones. Access to the central door is via three stone steps, flanked by wrought-iron railings. The door has six raised and fielded panels, a three-part rectangular overlight, and a bracketed flat hood. Above the door is a datestone marked "A C". The rear wing includes two small gabled eaves dormers from 1800 and a central brick ridge stack. Inside the gable end, there is a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts. The front of the property features wrought-iron spearhead railings set on a dressed grey sandstone plinth, with circular-section cast-iron standards topped with urn finials and curved stanchions, and a central wrought-iron gate with curved braces. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
