Description

Shawbury Bridge is a bridge built in the mid-18th century and widened in 1936. It is constructed from red and grey sandstone ashlar and features three round arches with archivolts and raised triple keystones. The bridge has breakwaters with concave tops, planking pilaster buttresses, a string course, and a parapet, along with angled wing walls. The southern parapet is inscribed with "SALOP C.C./SHAWBURY BRIDGE/ WIDENED 1936". This bridge carries the Shrewsbury-Market Drayton road over the River Roden.
