Description
The King's Arms Hotel is a hotel located on Church Street in Cleobury Mortimer. It features late 18th century remodelling of a 17th century core and is believed to date back to 1530. The building is timber framed with painted brick, showcasing storey bands and a dentil course at the eaves, along with a rendered plinth. It has a plain-tile roof and a central brick ridge stack, with a front range that includes rear gabled extensions.
The exterior consists of three storeys. The street front displays six mullion and transom windows in moulded frames with brick keyed lintels at the first floor, and four similar windows at the ground floor. There is a central doorcase featuring plain flat pilasters, a plain corniced entablature, and a six-panelled door with a toplight above. To the right, there is a carriage entrance with a chamfered timber lintel. The upper floor has three two-light casements, and the left-hand gable end is rendered.
At the rear, the building has a square panelled timber frame that is partly rendered and partly covered by projecting tiled gabled extension wings made of both brick and render. Inside, the ground-floor bays are supported by twin chamfered bridging beams in each bay.
