Description
No. 9 Church Street is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The front is made of brick, while the rear features stone rubble. It has a hipped roof covered with plain tiles. The house has a central brick ridge stack and an integral eaves stack on the side. The layout is L-shaped, consisting of a front range and a hipped rear wing.
The exterior has three storeys and features a two-window range. The openings have painted stone lintels with raised moulded keyblocks, but the upper floors now contain 20th-century windows, while the ground floor has 8/8 sash windows. There is a 20th-century glazed door in a 19th-century opening to the left. At the rear, there are brick segmental-arched openings on the lower floors, which originally had sashes but have been replaced with 20th-century windows. The top-storey windows have also been altered in the 20th century, and there is a central door that has undergone changes.
The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
