Description
6 and 7 Church Street is a house over a shop with a core dating back to the 17th century, featuring alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building has a painted rendered upper floor and a lower floor made of coursed stone rubble, topped with a plain-tile roof. There is a projecting stone eaves stack on the side, which has brick upper shafts.
The exterior consists of two storeys. The street front has a central section with two 19th-century semi-dormers that contain two-light casements, positioned above a 20th-century ground-floor shop front. This central section is flanked by gabled cross wings on either side. The right cross wing features a 19th-century canted bay window above a 20th-century shop front, while the left wing is advanced and has a 2/2 first-floor sash window above an early 20th-century shop front. The left return side includes a small casement window and a projecting stack. At the rear, the right side has a rendered tiled gabled wing with a 2/2 sash window, and the left side features a 20th-century brick tiled gabled extension.
The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
