Description
23 High Street is a house over a shop, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick, featuring a rendered plinth and stone rubble sides and rear, topped with a plain-tile roof. There are two 20th-century integral gable end brick stacks on each side.
The exterior consists of two storeys and a three-window range. The first floor originally had two bay windows and a central window, which have been replaced by two 20th-century tripartite sashes with a 1/1:2/2:1/1 configuration, flanking a central 2/2 sash. All these windows have painted keyed lintels with raised keyblocks. The ground floor features two bay windows without glazing bars and a central plain doorcase, all beneath a 20th-century projecting fascia. At the rear, there are 20th-century casements in stone segmental-arched openings.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
