Description
19 and 20 High Street is a house over two shops, dating from the 18th century. The building features a timber frame that has been rebuilt in brick, topped with a stone-coped parapet and a plain-tiled roof. It has integral central brick stacks.
The exterior presents a three-storey facade with a three-window range of 8/8 sash windows. These windows have wide cases and painted lintels with raised keyblocks. The ground floor has a central window flanked by moulded wood pilastered doorcases, which are coupled to projecting moulded wood box bay windows. These bay windows currently lack glazing bars and are topped with a moulded wood cornice. The right bay window includes an additional four-panelled door.
Inside No. 19, original features of the jettied timber frame are visible at the ground floor, including a corner post, jetty plate, and girding beam.
