Description
66 and 67 Guildhall Street is a house and two shops dating from the 16th century, with an early 18th-century front. The building is timber-framed and jettied, with the upper storey rendered and featuring raised roughcast panels. The south gable end is made of red brick, and the roof is tiled with a wood modillion eaves cornice.
The exterior has two storeys, attics, and cellars. The upper storey has five windows, all of which are 2-light small-paned casements set in flush frames. The joist ends of the jetty are covered by a plain wood fascia, and the overhang is supported by seven heavily moulded console brackets. A small section at the north end does not have a jetty. The ground storey features two separate early 19th-century shop fronts with three windows in total; the two outer windows are small-paned, while the middle window has plate glass. Both shop fronts have panelled stall boards. There are also two flat-headed lead-covered dormers with rendered cheeks, each containing 6-pane sash windows.
The interior has not been inspected but is reputed to contain interesting features.
