Description
The King's Arms is an inn dating from the early 18th century. It features a rendered front on a cemented plinth with a rubble stone core and a slate roof. The building has three rebuilt stone stacks at the ends and a ridge stack, as well as a gable end stone stack at the rear. It consists of a large single main range with three rear wings, standing two storeys tall with an attic. The front is symmetrical and may have been remodelled, highlighted by a small central gable. There are five windows, which are 19th-century four-pane sashes set in plain painted surrounds. The ground floor has four similar windows, and the central entrance features a beaded painted stone doorcase with an original six-panel door that is covered in a flush panel at the front. Above the door is a very large flat stone hood supported by scrolled wooden brackets. The building also has four gabled dormers, likely from the 19th century, on the eaves, each with single 4-pane lights. The rear has similar window arrangements and a small blind moulded roundel in the attic on the left-hand return, which was formerly rendered. Inside, the inn retains some original panelling, window shutters, and some stop-chamfered beams.
