Description
1-6 Rugpits is a terrace of six houses built as almshouses in 1859. The houses are constructed of red brick and feature plain-tile roofs with brick-coped shaped gables. There are three clustered brick ridge stacks with diagonally-set end shafts.
The exterior is single-storey with an attic. The front has three shaped gables, each topped with stone finials. The first floor has two-light casements, while the ground floor has three-light casements, some of which have been replaced in the 20th century. Between each gable, there are pairs of plain doors, three of which are sheltered by 20th-century lean-to porches. All openings have segmental arched shapes with chamfered moulded brick surrounds.
The return ends feature shaped gables, each with a single casement at the first-floor level and a plain central door flanked by two-light casements. The right gable is partly covered by a single-storey gabled extension, while the left gable displays the date 1859 in blue brick.
At the rear, each house has a gabled brick dormer with a two-light casement and a flat lintel, along with a plain door at ground floor level and a two-light casement, both with brick segmental arches and moulded brick surrounds. Four of the houses have their ground floors obscured by 20th-century single-storey extensions. The interior has not been inspected.
