CONDOVER C.P., GREAT RYTON, Barn approximately 10m south of Hill Top Farmhouse

Barn. Early C17 with later alterations. Weatherboarded timber frame with right-hand bay re-built in red brick, plain tile roof. Former threshing entrance with double doors in second bay from left flanked by two shuttered gabled eaves dormers with shuttered openings directly below; double doors and single door to centre with square-looped air vents to right gable end. INTERIOR: framing: square panels, three from cill to wall-plate with long straight tension braces, roof a mixture of Queen-strut construction and raking struts from cambered tie beams supporting principal rafters, straight wind braces. This barn occupies a prominent road-side position adjacent to Hill Top (q.v.).
