Description
This barn, located approximately 10 meters south of Hill Top Farmhouse, dates back to the early 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame, with the right-hand bay rebuilt in red brick and a plain tile roof. The barn has a former threshing entrance with double doors in the second bay from the left, flanked by two shuttered gabled eaves dormers that have shuttered openings directly below. There are also double doors and a single door at the center, along with square-looped air vents on the right gable end.
Inside, the barn has square panel framing, with three panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate, and long straight tension braces. The roof combines Queen-strut construction with raking struts from cambered tie beams that support the principal rafters, along with straight wind braces. This barn is prominently situated alongside Hill Top Farmhouse.
