Description
No. 1 Quality Square is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of rubble with brick panels and has a plain tile roof. It stands three stories high and has a cellar, featuring a two-window range. The left side has 20th-century mullion and transom lights beneath a timber lintel, while the right side has similar lights under a brick segmental arch on the first and second floors. There is a 20th-century six-panel door with an overlight to the right, also under a brick segmental arch, along with a 20th-century half-glazed door and additional 20th-century windows. The left returned side has dressed quoins and more 20th-century windows in altered openings. The rear elevation features a broad rubble stack with a 17th-century and later brick superstructure, an oak wall plate, and more 20th-century windows in altered openings.
