Description
The Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located in Edgerley, Kinnerley. It features a timber frame with red brick infill and an asbestos sheet roof. The building has a two-cell plan of the end baffle-entry type, consisting of one storey and a gable-lit attic.
The framing includes square and rectangular panels, with three panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate and short straight tension braces. It has a queen-strut truss. There are boarded doors on the left and far right, with a 19th-century casement window in the centre and a similar opening immediately to the left of the right door. The cottage has integral end stacks, with the left stack likely inserted directly at the front of the ridge, while the right stack is original but has been rebuilt at the top in 19th-century brick. A sandstone rubble projection on the left gable end is likely to house a bread oven.
The interior could not be inspected during the last survey in October 1986, but it was noted to have a timber-framed cross wall.
