Description

The Pool House is a late 17th-century cottage, originally shown on the Ordnance Survey map as The Cottage. It features a timber frame with plastered infill set on a brick plinth and has a graded slate roof. The framing consists of light rectangular panels, with three panels extending from the sole plate to the wall plate, supported by long straight and curved tension braces. The building is one storey with an attic and has a two-storey rear wing, forming an L-plan with two framed bays and a single framed bay in the rear wing.

The south-east front has a rendered external brick end stack on the left side. There is an off-centre gabled eaves dormer to the left, which contains a 20th-century three-light wooden casement window. To the left on the ground floor, there is another 20th-century three-light wooden casement, while to the right, a 20th-century glazed door is sheltered by a gabled timber-framed porch. A 19th-century two-light wooden basement casement is located to the left. The right-hand gable end features a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts.

At the rear, there is an outshut with a catslide roof. The rear wing has a two-window front facing north-east, with a mix of 19th and 20th-century wooden and metal casements, as well as a central 20th-century glazed door with a gabled porch. An external brick lateral stack is located at the rear angle, accompanied by a small slate-roofed bread oven. The interior has not been inspected.
