Cow House And Garage Approximately 10 Metres To North East Of Little Hill Farmhouse

The cow house, now partly used as a garage, is located approximately 10 metres to the north-east of Little Hill Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some 20th-century alterations. The structure is timber framed with red brick nogging and sits on a high brick base that was rebuilt in the 20th century. It features a plain tile roof and consists of two framed bays, with one storey and a loft. The framing consists of square panels, with two panels extending from the plinth up to the wall-plate; the plinth likely replaces earlier lower framing.

The left-hand section has 20th-century vertical boarding on the front and a pair of boarded garage doors. There is an off-centre, two-leaf boarded door for the cow house to the right, along with a small window. At the rear, there is a gabled eaves dormer with a boarded door. The left-hand gable end displays a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts. Inside, there is a 19th-century inserted floor in the right-hand bay, and a re-used 16th-century beam in the same bay is set upside down, featuring wide joist mortices and wave-moulding with run-out stops. Little Hill Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
