Description

Stilgo Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the late 16th century and was extended in the mid to late 19th century. It is timber framed on a brick plinth, with painted brick infill and brown brick additions, topped with a plain tile roof. The original 16th-century section consists of three framed bays, with significant 19th-century extensions that project at right angles to the right side. The building has one storey and an attic, featuring irregular square and rectangular panels, three from the cill to the wall-plate, with long slightly curving tension braces, jowled wall posts, and long straight tension braces on the left gable end. There are two late 20th-century casement windows to the left of a glazed lean-to porch that connects to the 19th-century additions, as well as three gabled eaves dormers with fretted bargeboards. A six-panel door is located behind the porch, and there is an internal red brick end stack on the left. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. The 19th-century additions are not considered to have special architectural interest.
