Description

Leighton Lodge is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with significant additions and alterations made in the mid- to late-19th century. The house is constructed of red brick, with a plain tile roof featuring raised verges to the right gable end. A red brick stack rises behind the ridge to the right. The building is in an L-shaped plan, with prominent additions to the rear. It has three storeys, a moulded wooden eaves cornice to the front, and a dentilled eaves cornice to the rear range. The front has three bays, featuring glazing bar sashes with gauged heads and raised painted keystones (the keystones on the top floor are smaller). The central entrance is through a late-19th-century, pedimented brick porch, which contains a six-panel door with glazed top panels.
