Description

LEIGHTON AND EATON LEIGHTON SJ 60 NW CONSTANTINE C.P. 2/104 The Old Post Office GV II Cottage, latterly post office, now house. Mid-C17, extended and re- modelled mid-C19. Timber framed with painted brick infill- and additions, machine tile roofs with ornamental cresting, fretted bargeboards and pointed finials to gables, yellow brick ridge and end stacks. Original 2-cell plan extended to left and right in mid-C19. One storey and attic; framing: square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate with V-struts from collar to front gable end; mid-C19 fenestration, cast-iron patterned casements, one on each floor to front gable end, that on ground floor in oriel, C19 dormers to C17 part and left extension, both with fretted bargeboards and pointed finials; entrance through nail- studded boarded door in angle between C17 range and left extension. Interior: not inspected but likely to be of interest. Mid-C20 single- storey addition to rear not of special architectural interest.
