Description
Pimhill is a cottage that dates from the late 17th century and was extended in the mid to late 19th century, with further additions and alterations made later. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill, and the 19th-century red brick addition is rendered and painted to imitate a timber frame. The roof is covered with machine tiles. The original structure has a two-cell plan and is one storey with an attic, while the 19th-century addition is taller and located to the right. The framing consists of rectangular panels with three sections from the cill to the wall-plate, and there is 20th-century framing that imitates the original on the left gable end. The ground floor has two 20th-century casement windows, with the central window having a contemporary dormer above it. The entrance is at the far right, featuring a 20th-century ledged door under a gabled hood, with an integral end stack directly above. There is also an integral end stack to the right of the 19th-century addition. The interior could not be inspected during the resurvey in March 1986, but it is reported that the timber frame and roof trusses are largely intact in the 17th-century part, including the right gable end.
