Description
Holly Cottage and Walnut Cottage is a house that has been divided into two cottages. It dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. The structure is timber framed with painted brick infill and features a thatched roof with red brick stacks, one integrated on the left and one external on the right. The building is one storey with an attic and appears to consist of two framed bays. The framing includes square panels, three from the cill to the wall-plate, with long straight tension braces and jowled wall posts. To the right, there are three-light casements next to round-arched late 19th-century gabled brick entrance porches, which have raking eaves dormers above. The entrance to Walnut Cottage on the left has a boarded door, while Holly Cottage on the right has a plank door. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. There is a 20th-century single-storey brick addition to the right of Holly Cottage, which is not considered to have special architectural interest.
