Description
Rookery Cottages is a house that has been divided into two cottages, dating from the late 16th century. It is two storeys high with attics and has a three-cell layout. The structure is timber-framed and rendered, topped with black glazed pantiles. There is an internal chimney stack with a plain red brick shaft. The cottages feature various old two-light and three-light casement windows, some of which have small panes and pintle hinges. The door to No. 2 is a plank door, likely located in the original cross entry position. Most of the timberwork is covered, except for the main beams on both floors and the wall plates. The upper ceilings are original. The roof is well-constructed, featuring full principals that have been cut away to accommodate clasped purlins, along with arched windbraces, some of which have been removed.
