Description
Morrellswood Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with significant later additions and alterations. The building features a timber frame that is now partly hidden and has been replaced by painted brick, topped with plain tile roofs. Originally, it was designed in an L-shape and includes an outbuilding at the rear, which is now part of the house, along with 20th-century flat-roofed extensions in the corners.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the timber framing now only visible at the gables of the main range and the outbuilding, but it is too fragmentary to identify the framing type. The windows are arranged irregularly and include 19th and 20th-century casements, some with segmental heads. The entrance features a 17th-century plank and muntin door with fleur-de-lys pointed strap hinges, set beneath a 20th-century gabled brick porch at the front gable. The building has red brick lateral and end stacks. Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams with heavy joists in the main ground-floor rooms, along with several 17th-century plank doors. The 20th-century additions are not considered to have special architectural interest.
