Description
Saplins Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of rendered red brick on a rubblestone plinth, topped with a plain tile roof and features external end stacks that are stepped to the left. The building has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with a wide floor band that extends around the left and right sides. On either side of the central entrance, which has a mid-20th century door, are late 19th century casement windows with segmental heads. Inside, there is an 18th century winder staircase with carved splat balusters leading to the first flight, several 18th century plank and muntin doors (one of which formerly led to a cellar) with fleur-de-lys strap hinges, and chamfered ceiling beams on the ground floor.
