Description
Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates partly from the 17th century or earlier and was re-modelled and extended in the mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of red brick, which likely conceals a timber frame in the earlier part, and features plain tile roofs with crow-step gables.
The oldest section is probably the low two-bay range, to which a taller, roughly T-shaped range was added in the mid-18th century. The 17th-century part has one storey and an attic, while the 18th-century section has two storeys and an attic. The 17th-century part includes one three-light mid-19th-century casement window with a segmental head on either side of a central ledged door, which is sheltered by an open gabled porch. There is a plat band above and mid-19th-century gabled dormers in the roof slope on both sides of a tall central ridge stack.
The 18th-century part features a two-bay north front with mid-19th-century casements that have segmental heads, along with a late 19th-century canted bay window at the lower left. There are also two late 19th-century gabled eaves dormers, and end stacks on both sides, with the right stack being axial and located at the junction with the lower service block. The west gable end of this service block has been rebuilt in late 19th-century brown brick. The left gable end of the north front has pigeon nesting holes and ledges. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
