Description

Old Hall is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with significant additions made in the early 18th century. The building is constructed of brick, with some sections rendered and colour-washed. It has pantiled roofs. The north side presents two gables of two storeys and an attic. The western gable contains a 17th-century door within a square surround. Windows are predominantly casements dating from the 18th to the 20th centuries. An outshut to the right has a partially rebuilt stepped stack rising through the roof, dating from the 17th century. The main 18th-century range runs south and terminates in a shaped gable. The gable end is lit by a 4-light cross casement on the ground floor and a repaired 4-light ovolo mullioned window on the first floor. Above this is an oval plaque bearing the initials R. G. The east side of this range is of two storeys, with a full-height porch terminating in a shaped gable at the northern end. The fenestration on this side is a mixture of 19th-century cross casements, 19th-century mullioned casements, and early 19th-century metal casements. A gabled roof incorporates a panelled ridge stack. The west side features three gabled extensions lit by 19th-century casements, and a gabled dormer on the main roof slope adds to the asymmetry.
