Description

Rookery Farm House is a late 17th-century brick farmhouse, which has been rendered and colour-washed. It has a steeply-pitched pantile roof, and extends over two storeys with an attic and cellar. The east elevation has three widely-spaced windows: these are 3- and 4-light casements with chamfered frames, mullions, and transoms. An off-centre, slated porch has an elliptical arched opening to the doorway, and a basement window is positioned beside the porch. The gable ends have parapets with large external chimney stacks, and there are attic windows in the gables. The west elevation features an off-centre gabled stair turret with two 3-light casements. It also includes one ground floor sash window with glazing bars, and further 4-light casements with transoms. A later, lower two-storey wing was added to the north gable; this has a slate roof and 19th-century casements, with segmental headed ground floor openings.
