Description

Upper Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1675, which was remodeled in the mid to late 19th century. It features a timber-framed structure with the ground floor refaced in red brick and the first floor rendered, topped with a plain-tile roof. The building has a baffle-entry plan consisting of two framed bays and stands two storeys high with a gable-lit attic.

A central brick ridge stack has a rectangular base with a lozenge-shaped date stone inscribed with "S/FE/1675/GS" and weathering, along with three star-plan shafts that have moulded caps. The front has two windows, with two first-floor 19th-century two-light windows that have straight-sided arched heads and chamfered reveals. The ground floor features two three-light 19th-century wooden casements with transoms, and a central 19th-century gabled brick porch with a chamfered arch.

To the left, there is a one-storey 19th-century brick addition, and to the right, a ground-floor 19th-century canted bay. At the rear, there is a 17th-century stair tower along with 19th-century additions. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered beams, a large open fireplace with a chamfered lintel in the ground floor room, a 17th-century staircase located in the stair tower, and a 17th-century door leading to the cellar.
