Description

Middle Farm Cottages is a house that has been divided into two residences. It likely dates back to the 16th century but was rebuilt in the mid to late 19th century and again in the late 20th century. The structure is timber framed and has been rebuilt in red brick, topped with a plain tile roof. It has one storey and an attic, featuring gabled eaves dormers with two-light wooden casements—three on the southeast side and two on the northwest side. There are two brick ridge stacks located off-centre to the left and right.

On the southeast front, there are two three-light 20th-century casements on the right and a two-light 19th-century wooden casement on the left. The central door has four flush panels, with the upper panels being glazed, and is set within a gabled brick porch that has a round arch. To the left, there is a 20th-century gabled addition that projects out and features a half-glazed door on its left-hand return front. The left-hand gable end has a first-floor two-light segmental-headed wooden casement and a ground-floor three-light casement. At the rear of No. 2, there is a gabled porch. Inside, there is a full cruck truss between the two cottages, and there may be additional concealed cruck trusses.
