Description
Nos. 115 and 116 Frankwell is a shop that was likely originally a dwelling, dating from the late 16th century. The building is timber-framed with a plain tiled roof and has two storeys plus a gabled attic. It features a two-window range and is constructed with square panels, raking tension bracing, and close studding with a middle rail on the facade. The front gables have ogee tension braces and balustraded studs, along with quatrefoils. There is herringbone bracing and struts below the collar in the side gable. A late 20th-century recessed shop front has been inserted, leading to a moulded bressumer that supports the jettied upper storey. The building also includes two square oriel windows that are mullioned and transomed with three leaded lights, as well as two-light casement windows in the attic gables.
