Description
126 and 127 Frankwell is a former inn that has been converted into a range of shops. It dates from the late 16th century and features a timber-framed structure with a plain tiled roof. The building stands three storeys high and has a three-window range. The framing is characterized by close studding, a middle rail, and ogee tension bracing.
The ground floor has an inserted shop front in the center, flanked by four-centred arched doors on each side, with two windows to the left. The upper windows include 24-pane sash windows to the left, and to the right, there are two wood mullioned and transomed oriel windows with leaded lights. The third floor features a long band of seven lights to the left, consisting of three mullioned and transomed lights flanked by lower leaded casements, along with two five-light mullioned and transomed windows to the right.
At the top, there are two gabled attic dormers with cambered ties and enriched barge-boards that have finials. The building also has side and rear wall stacks.
