Description
This is a pair of shops, likely originally dwellings, dating from the late 15th or early 16th century. The building is timber-framed with a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window front forming a cross gable to the left and the main range to the right. The timber frame is constructed with square panels incorporating cusped arched and tension bracing. The gable apex features close studding. A central passage entry has been flanked by inserted shop fronts, with a door leading to a further passage on the right and a window in what was probably a former doorway on the left. The upper storey is slightly jettied and supported by carved brackets. The upper windows are four-light mullioned, with leaded panes beneath the gable; the main range has renewed casements. A four-light mullioned window is located in the gable apex, and there are paired dormers in the roof of the main range. A rear wall stack is present.
