Description
Nos. 1 and 2 St Mary's Court are offices and a health centre that were originally built as dwellings in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick, with the roof not visible behind a parapet. It stands three storeys high and features an eight-window range that is symmetrically arranged, with doorways located in the second bay at each end. These doorways are raised up steps and have cast-iron handrails. The doors are six-panelled and include overlights set within moulded architraves, which are supported by console brackets that carry a projecting entablature. The windows are 12-pane sash types with flat-arched gauged brick heads, and there is a continuous sill band at the first floor. A moulded stone eaves cornice adds to the architectural detail. Additionally, there is a fireplace from a now-demolished building incorporated into the end gable wall, featuring a massive stone lintel with a shallow arch.
