Description
Nos. 31 and 33 Bridge Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It was built in the early 19th century and has undergone alterations. The building is finished in colour-washed stucco and features a slate roof with a rectangular plan. It is designed in the Georgian Gothick style and stands three storeys high with three symmetrical bays.
There is a deep band above the ground floor, and the central doorway is recessed with a panelled door, which is sheltered by a swept hipped lead-covered canopy supported by a light wrought-iron trellis, resembling a shallow porch. The ground floor has large square cross-windows with very thin glazing bars and top-hung casement openings. The upper floors feature 2-light casement windows with similar glazing bars and raised sills, all topped with 2-centred arched heads that have intersecting glazing bars and quatrefoils in the apexes. Additionally, at the left end of the first floor, there is a simple wrought-iron bracket that once held a hanging signboard. The roof is swept hipped with projecting eaves, and the rear of the building has a full-height addition. The interior has been remodelled.
