Description

STAUNTON-ON-WYE CP - SO 34 NE 4/114 Orchard Cottage

GV II Cottage. Probably late C17 or early C18, with later alterations. Timber- frame with plaster infill and weatherboards. Concrete tile roof and brick ridge stack. Rectangular east/west plan of about five bays including attached barn at west end. One storey and attic. North elevation has one first floor window behind three diagonal oak mullions. Ground floor has two steel 2-light mid-C20 casements to right of porch. To left of porch are two top-hung con- temporary windows. Glazed gabled mid-C20 porch. Full-height weatherboarded barn to right with aluminum garage door. Frame is three square panels high from cill to wall-plate. Interior inaccessible at time of re-survey (November 1986).
