Description

The Rucketts is a farmhouse, now a house, that likely dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with earlier origins and later alterations. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with brick and plaster infill, partly roughcast. The roofs are made of sandstone and Welsh slate, partly half-hipped, with external roughcast stacks and an off-ridge stack. The building has a T-plan with a cross-wing at the west end; the cross-wing has two bays while the main range may have four bays. The main range has one storey and an attic, while the cross-wing includes a cellar, two storeys, and an attic.

On the south elevation, there are 1:2 windows, an 8-pane late 19th-century window in the gable front to the left, and two gabled dormers with 2-light casements on the main range. The gable features a half-hipped roof, a large external stack to the left, and a glazed 20th-century door above a deep cellar and plinth to the right at the top of the stairs. The main range has four irregularly placed 19th-century casements and a ledged door on the left-hand side set in roughcast.

The rear elevation of the main range shows exposed framing with three square panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. The cross-wing has four panels between a deep plinth and wall-plate, with late 20th-century elements in the gable frame. Inside the cross-wing, the ceiling beams feature lamb's tongue run-out chamfer stops.
