Description
This building is a barn and cowhouse located about 20 metres north-east of Bage Court. It dates from the late 17th century and early 18th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. The structure features a timber frame on a rubble plinth, which was originally filled with woven material but is now covered with weatherboarding and topped with a corrugated iron roof.
The barn is arranged in an L-shape, aligned north-west to south-east, and consists of five framed bays. The two bays at the north-west end are lofted and have an open front supported by 19th-century brick pillars for use as a cartshed. The remaining three bays contain a central threshing floor. The framing includes three square panels high, with trusses featuring two raking struts, and the gables and divisions have three queen struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex.
The cowhouse, added in the early 18th century to the south-east end of the barn, projects to the south-west and consists of four framed bays. It has three cow entries on the north-west wall and a loft above. The framing of the cowhouse is similar to that of the barn in all respects.
