Description
This cow shelter, now functioning as a cow house, is located about 40 yards west-south-west of Great Moorcourt Farmhouse and is likely from the late 18th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboards, sandstone rubble at the rear and gable walls, and a pantiled roof. The building consists of five bays arranged in an east-west direction. The north elevation is weatherboarded and has two ledged stable doors, one positioned to the right of center and the other to the left. Inside, there are four pegged raking strut trusses supported by posts at the front, along with a continuous stone trough and feeding passage at the rear. This structure is part of the farmyard associated with Great Moorcourt Farmhouse and the nearby barn, contributing to its group value.
