Barn About 45 Yards West Of Clarkes Field

This is a barn located about 45 yards west of Clarkes Field, likely built in the 18th century but with earlier origins. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and timber-frame, featuring brick infill, weatherboards, and a corrugated iron roof. The barn has a rectangular plan with three plus two bays, oriented north-north-west to south-south-east.

The west elevation displays weatherboarding in the center and right sections, with brick infill and sandstone rubble on the left. There is a small ledged door with strap hinges to the left beneath a tollet, and opposed ledged doors providing full-height entry to the right of center. The east elevation features two lean-to projections, one on either side of the wagon entry.

Inside, the barn has raking struts connecting the ties to the principals in the trusses flanking the threshing floor. The remaining trusses have vertical posts extending from the ties to the collar, along with wind-braces. The frame beneath the weatherboarding consists of two panels high from the cill to the wall-plate, with the lower panel being rectangular and the upper panel square.
