Description
Stile Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill, a sandstone plinth, and a thatched roof. The building has four framed bays that are aligned east to west and face south. The right end bay contains a garage and entrance, while there is a south lateral stack with a bread oven.
The cottage is two storeys high and has a varied arrangement of windows. On the upper floor, there are two 2-light windows to the left of the stack and two to the right. On the ground floor, there are two 3-light windows to the left and two 19th-century cast iron windows with segmental heads to the right. Further to the right, there is a 20th-century glazed door and ledged double garage doors. The framing of the cottage is mostly intact, featuring three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate.
