Description

The Steppes is a 17th-century house with 20th-century alterations and additions, located in Lugwardine. It is timber-framed with brick and rendered infill, a sandstone plinth, and a thatched roof. The original design comprised three framed bays aligned east to west, facing south. A 20th-century addition to the rear provides access, situated to the right of the centre. The house features a single storey, with an attic and cellar. There are two eyebrow dormers with 3-light 20th-century windows on the right side, a 3-light window below the eaves to the left, and a pair of similar 2-light casement windows towards the centre. A 19th-century cast iron window with a segmental head is located on the right. The timber framing appears largely complete, although altered, with three square panels running from the sill to the wall-plate.
