GV II

Chest tomb for John Mailes, surgeon, died 1809. Finely cut sandstone. Moulded base and capping, the latter hipped; bombé end panels resembling continuous corner balusters, incised panels with quadrant corners and paterae to sides. Forms a close group with Butt (qv), Harris (qv) and Williams (qv) monuments.
